The Candleriggs Quarter site occupies an urban block of Glasgow’s Merchant City and has been derelict since the closure of the Goldbergs store in 1999. The master plan is situated between George Square and the Glasgow Cross. The feasibility study considered the opportunity for introducing offices and student accommodation as an alternative use to the current proposals. The office studies indicate a perimeter development focused around a central atrium with scenic lifts located at the intersections. The origination of the floor plates would allow for easy subdivision for multiple occupancy. To the south tow, L shaped buildings form the student and residential accommodation with independent access cores.
